A Season of Science at Aperture Pictures

Neuron BlogThis past Autumn(2015), Aperture Pictures had the great pleasure to work with the incredible minds and talents at Penn Biomedical Graduate Studies.

A number of videos were produced highlighting some of the different labs, the instructor mentors and their graduate students.

The linked video is of graduate student Jesse Isaacman-Beck and PI Michael Granato whose work on peripheral nerve regeneration was published in the journal Neuron.

The journal gave the two an opportunity to make a video abstract of their work for the Neuron website. The two chose a light-hearted, humorous approach.

The video can be seen here Neuron Abstract.

The children were photographed against green screen and later composited in Adobe After Effects with backgrounds and 3D elements created by Hal Meyers of Versatile Visions.

The spots were produced by John Anthony of Philadelphia Post, photographed and edited/composited by Christopher Landy.

Original music tracks were composed by Jim Boggia and produced by John Anthony of Philadelphia Post.

Tori Lawrence + Co. trailer for “Elizabeth” on Kickstarter

Tori Lawrence + Co. have launched their Kickstarter campaign for the film “Elizabeth.”

The film was shot over two days in a wheat field and the historic Schultz House (circa mid-1700s) in York, PA. As described on the Kickstarter page, “Set in a historic 18th century home and its surrounding fields, it is a quiet journey between two women, accompanied by the rich soundscapes of musicians Vicki Brown and Mona Chambers. It is for the wanderers of the fields who dwell in sadness, loss, and flight. And it is for those who are drowning, both inside and out.”

The dance was recorded on both a Panasonic HPX-3100 and a Nikon D4 output to a Sound Devices Pix240. Only natural light was used to capture the images.
